Mr Kuyayama said the enhanced product had strong international capabilities.

“With the globalisation of business, more and more mid-market companies are trading internationally. A customer setting up a branch office in Europe or factory further afield can use Sage Line 500 in that subsidiary and in group reporting,” he said, adding that Version 7.1 was available in several languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, United States English and Dutch.

Sage Line 500 Multi-currency, which comes at a convenient time following the official adoption of multi-currency transactions in Zimbabwe, records transactions in the currency in which they are paid and also converts them to a company’s base currency at the defined rate of exchange.

“For instance if one’s base currency is the United States dollar and the transaction currency is South African rand,  the system will reflect both currencies,” Mr Kuyayama said.

“Sage Line 500 Multi-Currency allows one to receive or process payments in any currency. If one’s transaction is in rand, you can still receive or process payment in US dollars, euros or any other currency and specify the exchange rate per transaction.

“One is also able to define realised gains or losses accounts which will be updated at the point of payment or receipt,” he said.

All open transactions base values can be revalued. It is possible to indicate which general ledger accounts are to be revalued and to lock others from being revalued. 

The cash management feature makes it possible for banks to be defined in the bank transaction currency. The general ledger will be updated with the transaction currency, reporting currency and base currency.
